TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ā€“ Florida Lottery officials are warning citizens to be on the lookout for an email scam that purportedly demands personal information in exchange for prizes.

The emails in question include the Florida Lottery logo and state lottery information, as well as the logos of LinkedIn and Microsoft.

The fake email states that the recipient has won a prize and should contact the "Contact Person" to claim their winnings.

Once the "Contact Person" has been reached, the people behind the scam request personal financial information and that a tax or fee be paid for the prize.

State officials say that the Florida Lottery does not contact players to inform them of their winnings unless they have entered a promotional game or second chance drawing.

The lottery is warning people who have received a fake email to not respond and to report any scam to the Division of Security at 850-487-7730.
