DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who broke into the North Regional Courthouse Sunday in Deerfield Beach.
According to detectives, the courthouse's security captain arrived at the courthouse about 6:30 a.m. Monday to open for the day and discovered that one of the entrance doors had been smashed.

The employee reviewed the security cameras and discovered that a white man with one hand had used a bat to smash the entrance door just before 9 a.m. on Sunday.
He conducted a quick safety check of the building and called BSO.
The building was evacuated as a precaution while deputies searched the building with K-9s.
According to BSO spokeswoman Joy Oglesby, the man tried to open several door and eventually entered one room, and stayed there for a few minutes.
Staff members reported that nothing appeared to be missing from the courthouse.
The burglar is described as a white man who has no left hand. He has a beard, short hair and a stocky build.
He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with a company logo and blue jeans. He was also seen driving a silver Nissan Pathfinder.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Detective Andrew Cardarelli at 954-480-4300 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
