MIAMI – Johnny Rockets is one of the most popular and well known spots along Ocean Drive, but recently inspectors found 31 violations at the location.
The inspectors, who came to the Johnny Rockets at 728 Ocean Drive after receiving several complaints, observed a ceiling leaking water onto a food prep table used to make burgers.
The leaking rainwater was seen dripping onto the cook line, grill station and over ready-to-eat lettuce. There was also mold found in the ice machine.
A stop sale has been issued for the onions, mushrooms and cheese.
The manager of the location refused to talk about the contamination issues and the bad inspection.
In a statement to Local 10 News, Johnny Rockets corporate office said that this is a franchise location and that they take health and safety seriously.
“There is nothing more important than the health and safety of our guests and regret that the restaurant did not pass inspection,” the statement said. “The restaurant was closed for a short time to correct the high priority violations and the franchise owner was authorized by the health inspector to reopen the next morning.”
This Johnny Rockets location has since re-opened.
