HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Four dogs were killed in an apartment fire Friday afternoon in Hollywood.
The fire was reported about 2:30 p.m. at a home at 1720 Fillmore St.
"I've never seen anything like that in my life," neighbor Julianna Cruz told Local 10 News. "Never."
Neighbors heard the screams for help and then saw the smoke.
"The whole building was covered in smoke," Cruz said.
Two dogs in each of the two units were killed in the fire.
Lorraine Headley is the owner a German Shepard and pitbull that were killed in the fire.
"I grabbed my son and left," she said. "I couldn't get the dogs out in time."
The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known.
