POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Two Broward Sheriff's Office jail employees were arrested Wednesday for having inappropriate relations with two inmates at the BSO North Broward Bureau, authorities said.
The suspects are Tara Clark, 37, a detention deputy, and Genice Cisnow, 26, a detention technician.
Public corruption investigators received a tip that the women, who worked the midnight shift, were having inappropriate contact with two inmates.
Investigators said a week-long undercover operation confirmed that the women were spending "countless hours socializing and engaging in sexual acts with two male inmates."
"Let me make this perfectly clear: This was a serious security breach," Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said at a news conference.
Cisnow, who was responsible for monitoring inmates' activities and ensuring other officers' safety, allowed an inmate inside the secured control room, authorities said.
Clark, who was supposed to conduct inmate checks and keep a head count, is accused of hanging out in the hallway with another inmate. According to an arrest warrant, the women were seen letting the inmates touch leg their legs and inner thighs. Clark was also allegedly seen putting her head in an inmate's groin area.
Authorities claim that the women falsified their work logs to show that they properly conducted their assigned tasks.
The inmates were identified as Carlton Lowe and Frankie Quinn, who are in jail for crimes such as strong-arm robbery, robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and escape.
Detectives said both women admitted to having inappropriate contact with the inmates, but denied having sex with them.
Cisnow and Clark face multiple charges of official misconduct and have been suspended without pay. Cisnow was hired by the BSO in September 2012 and Clark was hired in November 2007.
