Jeb Bush visits South Florida, takes on Trump in same day

Jeb Bush attends fundraiser to fight domestic violence in Coral Gables

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Jeb Bush was all smiles as he prepared to introduce his wife, Columba Bush, Saturday night at a fundraiser to fight domestic violence at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables.

"Columba has been my guiding light since the day I met her," Jeb Bush said.

They were loving words for his wife, a long-time domestic violence advocate, but just hours earlier Jeb Bush took to Twitter with a tougher message for Republican rival Donald Trump, saying, "Trump's absurd comments raise questions on whether he possesses the judgment to be president."

The tweet is linked to a video questioning Trump's foreign policy savvy.

"Let me tell you I'm a really smart guy," Trump said.

Trump's comments came during a television interview Friday.

"When you talk about George Bush, say what you want. The World Trade Center came down during his time," Trump said in the interview.

Jeb Bush quickly defended his brother on social media Friday, tweeting, "How pathetic for Donald Trump to criticize the president for 9/11. We were attacked and my brother kept us safe."

Friday night, Trump ignored dozens of questions, asking him to explain his remarks.

In Coral Gables Saturday night, Columba Bush had plenty to say about why she feels her husband could best help the country and gave a few reasons of her own.

"His passion for helping others and his strong sense of loyalty to family and friends, and his good looks, of course," Columba Bush said.
