JUNO BEACH, Fla. – Florida's largest electric utility company said Wednesday it plans to reduce rates again in 2016.
Florida Power & Light said it has filed a request with the Florida Public Service Commission to reduce rates, which will save customers about $2.50 per month, compared to current rates.

Business customers will also save about 2 to 6 percent under the plan.
"We're looking forward to delivering another rate decrease to our customers," FPL president and CEO Eric Silagy said. "Our previous investments in smart technology and relentless focus on productivity are paying off for our customers. While many every day products and services have gone up in price, FPL rates have actually decreased. In fact, our typical bill in 2016 will be more than 10 percent lower than it was 10 years ago."
FPL residential customers can estimate their monthly savings by inputting their usage into FPL's online calculator.
Rate estimates reflect FPL's projected fuel cost in 2016.
The PSC must approve the rate reduction as part of its regulatory process later this fall. If approved, lower rates will take effect beginning in January.
