Beachgoers shocked by nearby lightning strike at Haulover Park

Victims taken to Aventura Hospital

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Two beachgoers were taken to a hospital after being jolted by a lightning strike at Haulover Park.

According to an incident report, two men were in the water when lightning struck a lifeguard stand, sending an electric current into the water.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the victims were taken to Aventura Hospital as trauma alerts.

"I looked in the water and I saw three people and they kind of looked like zombies, like paralyzed," a witness told Local 10 News.

According to the report, four people were injured. Two of the men injured refused treatment.

The witness said lifeguards used a defibrillator on one of the men.

"It was really scary," he said.
