FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale firefighters responded to an underground utility fire Thursday afternoon.
The fire was reported about 3:40 p.m. at 1900 NE 33rd Ave.

Florida Power & Light and utility workers also responded to the fire due to electrical hazards.
Sky 10 was above the scene as authorities roped off nearby streets.
Fire rescue officials said the manhole cover flew 100 feet into the air during the fire.
FPL reported more than 1,000 people were without power in the area.
