Police said the men befriended several bartenders and would pay for a portion of their meals and drinks with Altman's credit card. Police said the men then used a gift card to withdraw hundreds of dollars from the restaurant's cash register.

Police said the gift cards had insufficient funds, but the transaction was still processed in each incident.

According to the report, the money withdrawn ranged from $305 to $680 in each transaction, with a total loss of $1,915.

Police said the bartenders positively identified Altman in a photo lineup.

Police said Altman admitted to his role in the scheme and said he had also defrauded other restaurants in South Florida, including a Hooters restaurant in Miami.
