OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A 22-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car while riding his Go-Ped in Oakland Park Monday night.

Joseph Deverson was taken to Broward Health Medical Center after the crash, where he was placed on life support. He was pronounced dead on Friday.

Meanwhile, the BMW that is believed to have struck Deverson was found Wednesday at The Palms condominiums in Fort Lauderdale. Deputies said the car had damage to the front-passenger side.

Deputies said Deverson was riding a Go-Ped about 10:45 p.m. Monday when he was struck on Powerline Road, just north of Oakland Park Boulevard. The driver never stopped.

Deputies said it's possible that the driver didn't see Deverson, and if they had stayed at the scene, there's a chance that they wouldn't have been charged. Detectives believe the driver left Georgie's Alibi restaurant in Wilton Manors shortly before the crash.

Deputies are still searching for the driver.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
