DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A driver is dead after a car crashed into a tree early Monday morning in Deerfield Beach.
The crash happened in the 3600 block of Northwest Sixth Street about 3 a.m.
Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said the truck, driven by Hernando Nieto, 46, of Boca Raton, caught fire after hitting the tree, and Nieto wasn't able to get out.
Nieto was pronounced dead at the scene.
Parts of Powerline Road were closed as deputies investigated the crash, but all lanes have since reopened.
