TAMARAC, Fla. – A man is facing battery charges after choking his wife, who is four months pregnant, deputies said.

According to an arrest report, David Rucker, 33, arrived home late Sunday night and was confronted by his wife, who was angry that he chose to stay out late instead of coming home to help her take care of their children.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said the wife claimed Rucker became increasingly irritated, grabbed her around her neck and shoved her against the wall.

Deputies said the couple's two children witnessed the altercation.

Rucker's wife claimed that her neck hurt, but she declined medical assistance.

Deputies said Rucker left the home before authorities arrived but was arrested Tuesday.
