LAUDERHILL, Fla. ā A 21-year-old man who was shot during an argument at a McDonald's has died from his injuries, Lauderhill police said.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. Friday at the McDonald's on West Oakland Boulevard.
Fire Rescue officials took the man, identified as Javaris Domineck, to Broward Health Medical Center in "very serious condition." Police said he died from his injuries at the hospital.
Witnesses told police Domineck was involved in some sort of argument with another man. The argument led to Domineck being shot at least one time and collapsing on the floor of the restaurant, police said.
Brent Upchurch, owner and operator of the McDonald's, said in a statement Friday night that the restaurant's first priority is the safety of its customers and employees.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to the family suffering from this senseless act of violence," Upchurch said in the statement. "As this is an active police investigation, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further except to say that we are cooperating fully with law enforcement and hope sincerely that the perpetrator of this crime is brought swiftly to justice."
The gunman was described by police as a black man who has short hair, and wore a gray hoodie sweatshirt and camouflage shorts.
