NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Police are investigating an early morning shooting at an apartment complex in North Miami.
The shooting happened shortly after midnight at an apartment complex on the corner of Northeast 18th Avenue and Northeast 149th Street.
Investigators said two shooting victims were taken to a hospital, but one has since been released.
Local 10 News reporter Michael Seiden spoke to Rebecca Bien-Aime, who said she was on her way to her apartment when she heard dozens of gunshots. The 24-year-old said she felt a pain in her left leg and realized she had been shot.
"It's really crazy," said Bien-Aime. "I just heard gunshots. I don't know where it came from. I didn't notice anything suspicious, no one suspicious or suspicious cars."
Police said nearly three dozen shots were fired.
Bien-Aime, who is the mother of a 3-year-old girl, told Local 10 News that she ran for her life as soon as she was shot.
"I started banging on people's doors, and (nobody wanted) to open the door," she said. "Everybody was scared. Nobody wanted to help me."
Bien-Aime said she is packing up her stuff and moving out with her daughter to a safer environment.
Police said a man, identified as 23-year-old Gerdson Lubin, was also shot in the arm and is expected to make a full recovery.
Police said they are looking for multiple gunmen. They said the shooters arrived at the Center Court Apartments in a silver, older-model Nissan Altima and left in a black Pontiac Grand Prix.
