MIAMI – A passenger on a United Airlines flight from Nigeria to Texas gave birth to a baby boy Friday morning while in the air.
United Flight 143 departed from Lagos, Nigeria, and was en route to Houston when it was diverted to Miami International Airport.
United spokeswoman Mary Clark told Local 10 News that the crew assisted the woman and baby "with guidance from medical professionals on the ground and on board the aircraft."
Clark said the plane arrived in Miami about 3:45 a.m. and was met by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics, who took the mother and child to a local hospital.
The flight then continued on to Houston.
