MIAMI – The Miami-Dade Police Department is searching for two men seen with a 45-year-old man shortly after he was found dead outside his apartment complex on Saturday morning.
According to police, officers were called to the Silverado Apartments in the area of Northwest 17th Avenue and 104th Street after reports of a man shot at about 8:40 a.m.
Responding officers said they found Enrique Gonzalez Alfonso, 45, on the ground with a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Surveillance video recovered by police showed Gonzalez Alfonso with two black men outside the building prior to the shooting.
Family members and friends of the victim told Local 10 News reporter John Turchin that Gonzalez Alfonso had live at the apartment complex for 10 years. They said the victim came outside to wash his car, a red Camaro, when he saw the men, one of whom he suspected had been hitting and kicking his car.
The victim's loved ones believe the men may have been jealous, and said Gonzalez Alfonso was proud to have worked as a cook in a local Chinese restaurant for many years and could now afford the car, after riding a scooter for so long.
Police believe the men drove off in a white Scion, possibly a tC.
Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
