MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man is dead and his girlfriend is in critical condition after a shooting at a salon in west Miami-Dade.
The shooting happened at 4:43 p.m. Saturday at Salonz Beauty Suites in the Flagler Park Plaza, located along West Flagler Street and Northwest 84th Avenue.
Witnesses inside the salon told Local 10 News several customers were getting their hair done when a gunman walked in and targeted one of the employees.
A witness said once the gunman started firing nearly everyone dropped to the ground. Friends and longtime clients of the victim said the victim and gunman knew each other. Police confirmed to Local 10's Andrew Perez the gunman was after his girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself.
The girlfriend hurt was taken to Kendall Regional Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Witnesses said they heard up to four gunshots.
As police investigated no one was allowed in or out of the salon. No names of those involved in the shooting have been confirmed until next of kin is notified.
