FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – An alleged ringleader in a series of burglaries throughout Broward County faced a judge Thursday, one day after his arrest on several active warrants.
Wisdom Williams, 17, was arrested Wednesday in Hallandale Beach on outstanding warrants for burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft and resisting arrest without violence.
Broward Sheriff's Office investigators said Williams is the leader of the gang, believed to have more than 100 members. Investigators claim the group was burglarizing homes during the day, stealing jewelry, electronics, personal information and anything else of value.
"They'll go circle, sometimes do some surveillance, park a car," Sgt. Valerie Devlin said. "They'll be brazen enough to park a car right in their driveway."
Investigators said the suspects' modus operandi was to kick in the front doors of homes throughout the county.
"Broward County without question is clearly a safer place today," Sheriff Scott Israel said.
