Manuel Alvarado was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and making a hoax bomb claim.

Detective Alvara Zabaleta said Alvarado was preparing to board an Avianca flight to Bogota, Colombia, when he was asked if he had anything in his suitcase. He replied by saying he had "explosives" before later saying he was only kidding, Zabaleta said.

Concourse J was evacuated and the bomb squad was called to inspect Alvarado's suitcase.

No explosives were found and the concourse was later reopened.
