FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man accused in a hit-and-run crash that left another man dead in Fort Lauderdale turned himself in Thursday.

Marvin Permenter, 31, of Pompano Beach, was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death.

According to the arrest report, Permenter hit a pedestrian with his car while driving in the 5900 block of North Federal Highway Monday night.

The pedestrian was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses identified Permenter's 2014 silver Chevrolet Cruze to police, which was found abandoned in a nearby residential neighborhood.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending a fingerprint analysis.
