FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. ā Police in Fort Lauderdale have arrested a man accused of assaulting multiple police officers during a late-night disturbance.
Vashon Gross, 31, was arrested Wednesday morning inside the lobby of Marriott's BeachPlace Towers on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Gross is accused of threatening employees and guests.Ā
"He was terrorizing employees and guests," said Det. DeAnna Greenlaw. "He was yelling and aggressive."
Greenlaw said Gross became combative during the arrest.
"When they attempted to take him into custody, he armed himself with a fire extinguisher," she added. "He used that on our officers, spraying them in the face."
Several officers were treated for minor injuries. Gross was transported to the hospital following his arrest. Investigators believe he is in stable condition.
Internal Affairs has launched an investigation, which is routine, police said.
According to court records, Gross has a lengthy criminal history. Investigators aren't sure why he was in the building.
