FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A boat and carport were destroyed following a fire at a Fort Lauderdale home Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters said a resident in the home at Southwest 16th Street and 33rd Avenue was working on a 28-foot console fishing boot in the carport when the fire started.
Flames engulfed the boat and carport before spreading to the attic of the home. Firefighters attacked the blaze and were able to contain it to the area of origin.
The fishing boat was destroyed in the fire.
No injures were reported, but the home suffered smoke damage to the interior.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
