Miramar woman files false tax return, uses refund to buy luxury car

MIAMI – A Miramar woman has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison after she filed a false tax return and used the refund to buy a luxury car.

Erica Bryant, 33, was convicted of filing a false claim.

Prosecutors said Bryant filed a false tax return in 2011, receiving $100,653.22 that was later used to purchase a 2013 Lincoln MKZ.

The Internal Revenue Service later seized the car for forfeiture.
