MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Miami-Dade circuit judge Sarah Zabel will hear arguments Wednesday regarding a lawsuit challenging Florida's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.

Catherina Pareto and Karla Arguello have been together for 14 years. Pareto owns and operates a financial planning firm. Karla is a stay-at-home mother to their fifteen-month-old son. The couple adopted their son in July 2013.

Juan Carlos Rodriguez and David Price have been together for nearly eighteen years. Rodriguez is a physician. His medical practice is managed by Price. The couple has 3-year-old twins.

Vanessa and Melanie Alenier have been together for eight years. Vanessa is the assistant general manager of a national trade show and special event service provider and Melanie is an insurance agent. The couple adopted their son in August 2010.

Todd and Jeff Delmay have been together 11 years. They co-own a business that specializes in hotel reservations for large events. The couple adopted their son in May 2010.

Summer Greene and Pamela Faerber have been in a committed relationship for twenty-five years. Greene is a real estate agent. Faerber is a portrait artist. Together they raised Faerber's teenage daughter from a previous marriage and currently have two grandchildren.

Don Price Johnston and Jorge Diaz have been together for one year and recently got engaged. Don is an office manager at a law firm, and Jorge is a paralegal.

Meet the judge:

Judge Sarah Zabel has been a circuit court judge since 2003.

She has worked for Child Support Enforcement and previously ran her own practice in the areas of Family and Civil Law.

She graduated with a bachelor of science from Florida State University in 1983 and Nova Law School in 1993.
