Music teacher Daniel Gast indicted on child porn charges

Prosecutors say Plantation man had child porn on laptop at school

PLANTATION, Fla. – A South Florida music teacher has been indicted on federal child pornography charges.

Daniel Gast, 28, of Plantation, was charged with one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to court documents, authorities began investigating the advertisement of child porn via the Internet in August 2013. The investigation revealed an IP address registered to Gast's Plantation home.

Prosecutors said investigators found no evidence of child porn at Gast's home, but a search of the music school where he taught revealed more than 95 videos of child porn on his laptop.

If convicted, Gast faces up to 20 years in prison and would be required to register as a sex offender.
