Body found in Tallahassee building that of missing FSU student Ryan Uhre

Weston resident disappeared Feb. 2 after watching Super Bowl with friends

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tallahassee police confirmed that a body found inside a building Tuesday is that of missing FSU student Ryan Uhre.

Uhre disappeared Feb. 2, after watching the Super Bowl with friends at a Tallahassee bar, according to police. He was last seen walking home, wearing a Hawaiian-style shirt with surfing Santas.

The Weston resident was reported missing by friends after he failed to return home.

By Tuesday afternoon, family members began gathering at the Weston home as word spread that Uhre's body had been found.

Uhre had just started an internship in the office of Rep. Richard Stark, D-Weston.

Authorities said he didn't take his car with him when he disappeared and there had been no activity since then on his social media or financial accounts.

Since he disappeared, Tallahassee police had been gathering clues in the search for Uhre. On Monday, the department released a photo of a man they believed was in the vicinity of the area where the St. Thomas Aquinas graduate originally disappeared.

Over the weekend, Uhre's family and friends held a vigil as the search expanded statewide.

Uhre's father, Michael Uhre, told reporters Tuesday that he hoped the vigil would help bring his son home.

"We asked that Ryan would come home, and we believe that he's home," Michael Uhre said. "He's home with God."
