The female snake is 18 and a half feet long and weighs 150 pounds.
It was captured 20 to 30 miles west of Krome and five miles north of the Tamiami Trail.
The snake was sent to the University of Florida. Researchers at UF will perform an autopsy to determine if it was carrying any eggs.
Experts say the snake could be a state record for the length of a python.
