Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein takes witness stand in West Palm Beach

Rothstein required to testify as a defense witness in another trial

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein made a court appearance Wednesday in Palm Beach County.

Rothstein has been required to testify as a defense witness in another trial

He took the stand in the trial of former employee Christina Kitterman at the Federal Courthouse in West Palm Beach.

Rothstein testified about lying to the government, about his wife Kim Rothstein taking jewelry that was suppose to go to the government, and he talked about his relationship with former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist.

Rothstein was expected to testify much later in the trial, but security concerns led to the change.

Rothstein is in the witness protection program, after being sentenced to 50 years in prison for masterminding the billion-dollar ponzi scheme.
