POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who allegedly beat a woman during a robbery, leaving her unconscious and bloody on the floor of the laundromat she owns with her husband.
Deputies responded to Sunnyside Coin Laundry about 8:46 a.m. Wednesday after a customer found the owner, 44-year-old Thanh Lam on the floor.
The customer saw that the robber was hiding in a closet, and he told the customer he had a gun, deputies said. The robber jumped over Lam and ran out the back door.
It's unclear if he stole anything. Lam has been hospitalized.
Surveillance video from a nearby Hess gas station shows someone matching the robber's description. He asked the clerk for the restroom key and talked on his cellphone as he waited for it. He then left in a small, green sport utility vehicle.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
