MIAMI – Zoo Miami officials were forced to euthanize one of the park's biggest attractions on Monday; a white tiger named Carlita.
Carlita came to the zoo in February of 1994 and instantly became a crowd favorite along with two Bengal tigers, Lyric and Rose. Carlita was the last remaining member of that original trio.

Born in 1992, Carlita began showing signs of advanced age in May of 2012 and was moved to a secluded area of Zoo Miami. It wasn't until Carlita's health began to deteriorate at a faster pace in recent weeks that the decision was made to euthanize her.
Carlita's 21 years far surpassed the 12 year life expectancy of white tigers in the wild.
