Students at Redland Middle school returned to classes on Tuesday, just days after a classmate was shot in the middle of class.
The injured 6th grader is still recovering, while parents and other students were on edge as they went back to school.

Some parents told Local 10's Tamika Bickham they questioned even leaving the house this morning.
"Honestly, I feel like crying," said parent Lazara Davalos.
"Right now my daughter is very scared," said Joe, another Redland Middle School parent. "She is very scared. She is afraid to go back to the class because of what happened in her class."
"I really didn't feel like bringing my child into school today," said Davalos. "But due to the fact that I have faith in the Lord, she needs to come to school."
Davalos' daughter, Crystal Rondon, is classmates with the Redland Middle School student who was shot in the leg while inside a classroom and she saw the blood.
"I saw a child walking down the hallway with blood on his hands and he was washing it off," Rondon said. "I thought somebody got shot and who could it be? I thought 'I hope that person is OK.'"
Deangelo Marte is doing OK after spending the weekend in the hospital.
On Friday, a student brought a gun to school. Police say it was tucked in the backpack of another middle school student and when the bag hit the ground, it caused the gun to fire.
"It was a through and through,"said Cindy, Marte's grandmother. "It was not a graze like it was reported. It went through the front of the knee, out the back of the knee, up the thigh."
As the middle schooler students began a new week with one less student in their hallways, parents and their children question if it could happen again.
"I feel like I'm not safe in the hallways. Anything could break out with any kid," said eighth grader, Jonathan Figueroa. "If they are fighting and one kid brings out a gun and shoots somebody, that could be me."
"I appeal to parents at home to stand up and make sure what we are doing around our kids and the way we treat our kids. Just do the right thing," said Joe.\
Police have not yet said what charges, if any, the child responsible is facing.
