Dispute Over Man's Lottery Winnings Heads To Mediator

Wife Says Husband Concealed Windfall

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The couple at the center of an infamous lottery family feud underwent mediation in Fort Lauderdale on Friday.

Arnim Ramdas is a difficult man to find. Ever since he and 16 other mechanics at American Airlines won a $19 million lottery jackpot on a ticket bought at a Kwik Mart four years ago, he has dodged his wife, the media and process servers.

Ramdas' wife, Donna Campbell, found out about the windfall by searching for his name on Google.

"I was just astounded," Campbell said. "I mean, there were no words to describe. I couldn't believe this was a person that I lived with five years prior to my marriage and to find this out was very shocking."

Ramdas claims his daughter, Janelle, who was in Orlando, bought the winning ticket, but Campbell said that doesn't make sense.

"As far as I know, Janelle never played in the lottery pool at American Airlines, nor is she a mechanic at American Airlines," Campbell said.

Since then, Campbell said she has been evicted from her home because her husband stopped paying the mortgage. She is penniless, but he is not.

"I know that they bought two brand-new Lexuses," Campbell said. "He has been on some luxurious trips to Tobago and Trinidad, Germany and Canada."

Ramdas didn't drive a fancy car to the mediation, but he also didn't offer his wife any support.

"We are hoping we can get some disclosure as to assets, and where did the money go?" said Campbell's attorney, Vincent O'Brien.

As Ramdas left the meeting, he wouldn't talk to a Local 10 crew and instead made an obscene gesture.

No deal was met. Campbell and her lawyer could not disclose the details of the mediation, which are confidential. Campbell's lawyers are going to ask for an emergency hearing so she can get some sort of financial relief.
