If you're a lover of lobster, there's a good chance that you've enjoyed both the Florida and Maine varieties of the delicious dish from the deep sea. But what's the difference, if any, between the two?
APPEARANCE
Recommended Videos
Maine lobsters are considered the "true" lobster in regards to its classic appearance as it has claws on its first three pairs of legs. Florida lobsters, also referred to as spiny lobsters, are known by their lack of claws and long, spiny antennae.
Although they look similar (minus the claws), the two species of lobsters are not closely related.
TASTE
Most believe that a Maine lobster wins the "taste" competition hands down as the taste is more pronounced and somewhat sweet while the taste of a Florida lobster is a bit blander. If you order a lobster tail in a restaurant, more likely than not it's a Florida lobster.
