2 caught placing credit card skimming devices in gas station pumps

Miami residents arrested in Keys

MARATHON, Fla. – Monroe County deputies arrested two men Sunday morning after they were caught putting a credit card skimming device on a gas station pump.

Alberto Fombellida-Manso,31, and Pavel Morejon-Martinez, 31, both Miami residents, were spotted by Sgt. Nick Whiteman, who was on patrol at 3 a.m.  near a Valero gas station in Marathon.

Whiteman noticed a car parked at the closed gas station and pulled in to the station, according to the sheriff's office. He also noticed the car’s license tag was bent so it could not be read.

Whiteman pulled the vehicle over as the driver attempted to pull away from the station.

One of the gas pumps appeared had a skimming device installed inside of it, deputies said, and a second skimming device was found shoved down into the back seat of the vehicle the men were in.

Fombellida-Manso and Morejon-Martinez  were arrested on charges of with using a credit card skimming device to commit fraud and with loitering. Fombellida-Manso was also arrested on a charge of with tampering with evidence.
