Fifty eight common addictions were run through Google Keyword Planner for the study, using different search term variations such as, “[addictive activity] therapy,” “[addictive activity] recovery,” and “help with [addictive activity] addiction.”

According to the study, the most searched addiction is porn, having an average of 30,749 searches per month all across the U.S. from people seeking help in managing the addiction. The second most searched addiction is alcohol, with an average of 9,057 searches per month coast-to-coast. The third most searched addiction is gambling, with an average of 6,128 searches per month.

“The findings reveal significant trends in public health concerns and underscore the urgent need for effective support and resources. This data not only highlights the widespread nature of these issues but also reflects a growing societal awareness and willingness to seek help,” Co-Founder and CEO of Sabino Recovery, Thomas Isbell, said in a news release.

America’s other addictions that were part of the top 10 that people are searching for help with include opioids, food, marijuana, video games, shopping, social media and benzodiazepines.

Isbell elaborated on the importance of addressing these addictions.

“Addressing these addiction-related challenges is crucial for improving overall well-being and fostering healthier communities,” he said.
