Dragons and rodents don’t mix: Restaurant ordered shut for second time

Local 10 News is looking into a discrepancy on the state’s website involving Areito Bar and Restaurant in Hollywood.

One section shows an emergency closure, while another only lists a follow-up inspection. Either way, roach activity was documented in the kitchen.

In Sunrise, Dragon Delight was ordered shut due to a fly issue, with rodent droppings and other sanitary violations also noted.

Meanwhile, no kitchens in Miami-Dade have been ordered shut for roach or rodent issues in weeks — an unusual stretch given the volume of restaurants and the typical number of closures in the county.

All the places mentioned were allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and then a re-inspection.

Approximately 3 rodent droppings on floor under dry storage shelf in prep area. Approximately 2 rodent droppings on wall in prep area. Approximately 15 rodent droppings on the floor behind the reach in coolers in prep area.”

“Dead roaches on premises. Approximately 1 dead roach on the floor behind the reach in cooler in prep area.”

“Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. At cook line - fried rice (51F-Cold Holding) in pan stored out at room temperature. Per operator held out of temperature less than 2 hours- overspread placed under time as a public health control for remaining time. Repeat Violation.”

“Employee touched face/hair and then engaged in food preparation, handled clean equipment or utensils, or touched unwrapped single-service items without washing hands. Observed employee touch face than engage in food preparation.”

“Raw animal food stored over/not properly separated from ready-to-eat food. At tall reach in cooler- Raw shrimp over chopped raw onions. Repeat Violation.”

“Hand wash sink not accessible for employee use at all times. Observed garbage can in front of handwashing sink.”

“Hand wash sink used for purposes other than handwashing. Observed stainless steel scrub pad in sink. Observed employee dumped sanitizer water in hand washing sink.”
