Landmark Keys restaurant ordered shut due to rodent droppings, other issues

Below is a list of places in South Florida that were ordered shut last week by inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

According to state records, no establishments in Miami-Dade County were ordered shut.

All the places mentioned were allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and re-inspection.

“Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Observed 5 rodent droppings on wood ledge of plywood wall behind dish storage shelving in storage room. Observed 3 rodent droppings in prep area on unused old sandwich press . Observed 2 rodent droppings on shelving above food prep table that is holding uncovered flour, bread crumbs and ground plantains . Observed 1 rodent dropping on dish rinse table next to dish machine.”

“Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. shrimp (55*F - Cold Holding); potato salad (55*F - Cold Holding); coleslaw (55*F - Cold Holding) relocated into walk in cooler less than 3 hours in unit.”

“Food-contact surface of French fry cutter soiled with food debris. Can opener blade is soiled.”

“Storage room Ceiling not smooth, nonabsorbent and easily cleanable in food preparation, food storage, or ware washing areas. Exposed wood rafters in storage room where chest freezer are and in Pizza room and in kitchen above cook line and prep areas.”

“Equipment in poor repair. Both Walk in cooler doors in disrepair. Low boy reach in cooler in not working. No food in unit Stand up white refrigerator is not working. No food in unit. Refrigerated drawers under flat top do not work. No food in unit . Observed a Broken ice machine soiled with leaves inside.”

“Floor soiled/has accumulation of debris. Under equipment in kitchen.”

“Interior of oven/microwave has accumulation of black substance/grease/food debris.”

“Kitchen Ceiling/ceiling tiles/vents soiled with accumulated food debris, grease, dust, or mold-like substance.”

“Nonfood-contact surface soiled with grease, food debris, dirt, slime or dust. Chest freezer gaskets are soiled. In freezer storage room Light shield above chest freezer have a buildup of debris inside them.”

“Hand wash sink not accessible for employee use at all times. Broom stored in front of hand wash sink and wiping cloth hanging over faucet.”

“Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Observed 1 live in dining room under table next kitchen entrance. 1 live on dish rack in kitchen across from cook line. 1 live next to hostess stand next to bar.”

“Dead roaches on premises. Observed 1 dead in hallway leading to restrooms. 1 dead in kitchen under three compartment sink. 1 dead in storage area in kitchen. 1 dead at front entrance next to hostess stand next to bar.”

“Interior of oven/microwave has accumulation of food debris. Observed at microwave in kitchen across from cook line. Operator cleaned microwave.”

“Hand wash sink used for purposes other than hand washing. Observed lids being stored at hand washing sink across from cook line.”

“From follow-up inspection 2022-10-06: Observed 2 live roach in dining room floor across from bar. "
