New capybara experience, high-flying acrobatics bring extra adventure to Jungle Island

MIAMI ā€“ Jungle Island is stepping up its game with a series of new attractions that are quickly becoming fan favorites.

Visitors can now get up close with some of the worldā€™s largest rodents, also known as capybaras, while enjoying aerial acrobatics inspired by Cirque du Soleil.

These additions are transforming the park into a must-visit destination for both adventure seekers and animal lovers in South Florida.

The new capybara experience allows guests to interact with three baby capybaras, named Alvin, Simon and Theodore.

The babies, known for their gentle nature and social behavior, have become instant stars at the park.

ā€œWe are one of the few in South Florida that offers this unique experience to engage with animals this way,ā€ said Sandra Villaman, an animal keeper at Jungle Island.

Capybara fans are also finding these adorable animals on social media, where theyā€™re going viral for their playful squeaks and engaging behavior.

ā€œThey do make sounds similar to guinea pigs, a clicking purring sound, and it shows theyā€™re content,ā€ added Villaman.

Meanwhile, for those looking for a more daring experience, Jungle Islandā€™s Nalu show offers a thrilling blend of aerialists and acrobats, adding a unique adventure element to the park.

The show, which focuses on connecting with nature, features performers who defy gravity while hanging by their hair and performing high-flying feats.

ā€œThey can expect the unexpected,ā€ said Francisco Santos, director of the Nalu show. ā€œWe have acrobats, aerialists ā€” itā€™s something unlike anything else.ā€

For those who prefer to stay closer to the ground, the capybaras provide an engaging experience.

Visitors can crouch down to meet the babies and even feed them.

ā€œTheir little chins feel so nice,ā€ said Local 10ā€²s Alexis Frazier after interacting with the capybaras.

Jungle Islandā€™s new offerings promise to draw even more visitors eager for one-of-a-kind experiences.
