Juici Patties expands to South Florida, bringing a taste of Jamaica

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Jamaica’s largest patty franchise, Juici Patties, has made its way to South Florida, offering a taste of the island’s iconic flavors to the local community.

In celebration of Black Business Month, Local 10′s Alexis Frazier spoke with 25-year-old Rhea Wright, a young entrepreneur who has brought a beloved Jamaican staple to Hollywood.

Juici Patties, with over 60 locations across Jamaica, is now making its mark in the U.S.

Wright, who grew up enjoying the flaky, savory pastries, told Local 10 News on Friday that she saw an opportunity to bring a piece of her homeland to the vibrant Caribbean community in South Florida.

“As you know, South Florida has a very large Caribbean community, so it was something that I was always around, and Juici Patties was something I grew up on,” said Wright. “Every time I would go to Jamaica, I would make sure to grab a patty as soon as I landed.”

With four ovens churning out up to 4,000 patties a day, Wright said the Hollywood location is thriving.

Customers can enjoy a variety of fillings, from savory beef to curried chicken, all wrapped in a flaky crust.

The patties can also be enjoyed on their own or sandwiched between soft coco bread for an extra layer of deliciousness.

“Our recipes come straight from Jamaica, so you can taste the flakiness, the texture of the crust, even down to the meat and the flavor,” Wright added. “We use a lot of scotch bonnet so you get that extra spice.”

The Hollywood location is just the beginning, with more Juici Patties franchises expected to pop up across Broward County in the coming months.
