Parades held in Broward, Miami-Dade for Fourth of July

PLANTATION, Fla. ā€“ The city of Plantation hosted its annual Fourth of July parade Thursday, which kicked off at 9 a.m.

The parade route began at the intersection of Broward Boulevard and Northwest 46th Avenue. It then headed west to 69th Avenue, to Northwest Fourth Street, to 73rd Avenue, ending at City Hall.

Spectators were encouraged to sit anywhere along the parade route.

Broward County Transit and the Plantation Police Department participated in the parade, among others.

In Plantation, the day kicked off with a lively parade as crowds gathered to celebrate America.

ā€œWe are excited for the Fourth of July. We are happy to be here. My husband is from South Africa. He immigrated here 20 years ago, so we absolutely love America,ā€ said an attendee.

ā€œWe are here to party because itā€™s Americaā€™s birthday; everybody gets to party,ā€ said another Broward resident.

The festivities in Plantation will continue all day, featuring concerts, kid zones and a grand fireworks display.

In Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, the afternoon parade delighted attendees.

ā€œWe had a wonderful parade for kids and families, celebrating our little town, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea,ā€ said one woman.

The L-B-T-S parade concluded at El Mar Drive Park, where families enjoyed the splash pad and looked forward to evening fireworks.

Further south in Key Biscayne, the red, white, and blue were on full display.

The city hosted its 65th Fourth of July parade down Crandon Boulevard, featuring floats, bands, and spirited residents. The celebration was described as fun, festive, and fabulous, embodying the patriotic spirit of the holiday.

Bayfront Parkā€™s annual Fourth of July Celebration also made its return to downtown Miami, offering a variety of festivities for all ages.

ā€œIā€™m excited. This is my first time here in Miami. This is my first Fourth of July here in Miami,ā€ one attendee said.

The event features food trucks, concerts, and even a hotdog-eating competition where the winner will take home a grand prize of $200.

The day will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show, a fitting end to the Fourth of July celebration.
