FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Social media has made an old trend new again—rug tufting!
If you don’t know, tufting is a way to create fluffy rugs, and we now have our own tufting house in Fort Lauderdale.
Right now, up to 12 people can take the class at a time and it’s a creative way to relax and enhance your artistic skills.
Since tufting blew up on social media, more shops have been popping up.
The one closest to home is Tufting House in Fort Lauderdale.
“I would say tufting is really the art of sewing in a way. You’re sewing on a canvas to create a rug,” Tufting House co-founder Amanda Antonio said.
With a tufting gun and yarn, you can create a custom masterpiece.
And time goes by fast, because in the beginning, it’s all about training and getting around that learning curve.
“I’d say anywhere between 20-30 minutes, people really start to pick it up,” Antonio said.
Tufting House is providing the community a creative outlet to release stress and have fun.
You get to let your creativity flow by picking your own design and taking a stab at something new.
“A lot of people come back and tell us it was very relaxing, very therapeutic,” Antonio said. “It’s such a good feeling to see people having fun, having a good time. We get the music going, there’s a vibe.”
If you don’t finish your piece, they will finish it for you at an additional price.
You can also rent the space out to host private events.
