Sofia’s expands from Toronto to Miami, offering culinary and artistic delights

MIAMI – In a fusion of Toronto’s culinary charm and Miami’s vibrant atmosphere, Sofia’s has expanded its reach from the 6 to the 305, setting up its second location in the heart of Miami’s Design District.

Andrea Petrak, Director of Sales for INK Entertainment, spoke to Local 10 News about the decision to venture into Miami, citing its allure as a popular destination for Torontonians and Canadians seeking refuge from winter.

“We curated the restaurant to showcase the artwork where guests can marvel in the different pieces and if interested, they can buy it as well from our gallery,” she said.

The new venue, adorned in blush pink hues both inside and out, offers patrons not only a culinary experience but also an immersion into the world of international art with an in-house gallery featuring carefully curated pieces available for purchase.

Among the showcased artworks is Marco Grassi’s captivating portrayal of women, adding a touch of Italian flair to the dining ambiance.

“Over here we have our private dining room where we have a Marco Grassi,” said Petrak. “He’s an Italian painter known for his beautiful depiction of women.”

Another highlight includes Russell Young’s distinctive glittery paintings, featuring iconic figures like Brigitte Bardot, creating an atmosphere of glamour and sophistication.

“This is one of my personal favorites,” added Petrak. “This is a Russell Young. This is a Brigitte Bardot. He does Kate Moss as well. He is very well known for his kind of glittery and sparkly paintings here.”

Unique to Sofia’s dining experience is the incorporation of QR codes, discreetly placed on the dessert menu, allowing patrons to seamlessly explore and purchase artwork while indulging in culinary delights.

“On our dessert menu, you will see a QR code at the bottom which says eat your art out. You can simply scan that which would bring you to our website,” said Petrak.

As far as culinary delights go, Abel Veulens, Executive Chef at the Sofia Design District, tantalizes taste buds with Sofia’s latest creations.

From succulent scallops topped with charred lemon garmcelotta to the indulgent spaghetti nero di sepia, dyed with squid ink for a hint of oceanic sweetness, each dish offers a modern twist on classic Italian flavors, infused with Miami’s vibrant energy.

“They (scallops) are topped with charred lemon garmcelotta. (It) has a little pickled red onion, a little pickled garlic and lemon zest running through it.”

As patrons savor each delectable bite, accompanied by the melodies of live music, Sofia’s promises a dining experience where artistry meets culinary excellence in the heart of Miami’s Design District.
