PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Ryan Seacrest is returning as host of "American Idol."
The only host in the show's history confirmed that he'll be back when the show returns to ABC. Seacrest made the announcement Thursday on "Live with Kelly and Ryan."

"It's genuinely hard to put into words what 'American Idol' means to me," Seacrest said. "I'm so grateful for the show and all the career and life opportunities it's allowed me to experience. It's been an incredible journey from day one."
ABC announced earlier this year that the show will return on the network. The show's run on Fox ended last year.
"I believe ABC is the perfect home for 'Idol,' and I've every confidence the show's legions of fans will love it," Seacrest said, adding that the best part of being host is "making dreams come true."
The nationwide search for "American Idol" talent begins next month in Florida.
Auditions will be held in 19 cities between Aug. 17 and Sept. 14, starting in Orlando and then in Miami on Aug. 19. "American Idol" hopefuls can audition in person or online.
Open auditions will be held Sept. 11 in Chicago and Sept. 14 in New Orleans. Other stops on the "American Idol" bus tour include Atlanta, Boston, Denver and Pittsburgh.
