Olmos said he signed a seven-page non-disclosure contract.

"I couldn't talk about it," he said. "So I couldn't talk to anybody about it."

Not anymore.

"Guess what?" Olmos said. "This is the first time that I am telling everybody and telling the world right now that, yes, I am going to be Gaff in 'Blade Runner 2049.'"

Olmos played Gaff in the original 1982 film. He spent much of the movie toting Ford's Rick Deckard character from place to place.

Perhaps his most memorable line in the movie is spoken near the end.

"It's too bad she won't live, but then again, who does?" his character says.

Although Olmos was coy about the details of his return, he did say that he'll have even less screen time than he did in the original.

"But again, it's a poignant little piece of work that I'm very grateful for," Olmos said.

The first trailer for "Blade Runner 2049" was released last December and has been viewed more than 7 million times on the Warner Bros. YouTube page. "Blade Runner 2049" is scheduled for an Oct. 6 release.
