Weekend event: South Florida Film Forum returns to empower filmmakers

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – South Florida’s diverse filmmaking community is getting a boost with the return of the South Florida Film Forum.

The event is set to bring together filmmakers, industry leaders, and creatives for a two-day celebration of storytelling, innovation, and collaboration.

The forum takes over MAD Arts Museum at 481 S. Federal Highway in Dania Beach on Saturday and Sunday.

Organizers say the event provides a platform for underserved voices in film and television, offering attendees an immersive experience through panels, workshops, screenings, and networking opportunities.

This year’s forum features a star-studded lineup of industry insiders, including Jay Roewe (HBO/HBO MAX), Nika King (Euphoria), Andrew Hevia (Moonlight), and Jamin O’Brien (Eighth Grade), alongside local and national filmmakers sharing insights into the evolving industry.

“South Florida’s creative community is rich with talent, and this forum is designed to uplift and empower them,” said Eddy Moon, a co-founder of the event. “We want to provide a space where filmmakers can connect, learn, and take their careers to the next level.”

With a diverse schedule of events, attendees can explore topics like independent film financing, breaking into Hollywood, character development, and the future of film marketing.

A special HBO panel with Jay Roewe will also provide exclusive insights into producing original content and leveraging industry incentives.

The South Florida Film Forum is presented by WEG, the Urban Film Festival, Film Lauderdale, MAD Arts and Broward County, with sponsors including E11even, Vicky Bakery and The Dalmar Hotel.
