According to PageSix, the “Harriet the Spy” star’s death is not believed to be suspicious by authorities, although her cause of death was not immediately known.
The New York Post, however, reported that sources had told them Trachtenberg had undergone a liver transplant. They said she was found dead around 8 a.m. Wednesday inside of a luxury apartment building in New York City.
In addition to starring in “Harriet the Spy” as a child, Trachtenberg also starred in various other shows and movies, such as “Gossip Girl,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and Disney’s “Ice Princess.”
PageSix reported that some fans expressed concern about her health last year after she posted photos of herself with a “drastically different appearance.”
“Explain to me how I look sick,” Trachtenberg posted in response, adding that she was now in her late 30s and no longer 14 years old.
Fans continued to express their concerns, however, posting that they didn’t intend to be cruel but were concerned about her health due to her perceived thinning hair and a yellow tint in her eyes.
