ORLANDO, Fla. – A new Universal park, envisioned as the Epic Universe, is set to open next year in Orlando with five themes — including two that will cater to “Harry Potter” and “Super Nintendo” fans.

The company announced that the park’s Celestial theme will serve as the gateway to the other four with the Starfall Racers rollercoaster, the Constellation carousel, and the Astronomica wet-play area.

The other two themes will cater to fans of the “How To Build Your Dragon” movies, and the “Dark Universe” movies starring Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, and more.

The new park will also be home to Universal’s new 500-room Helios Grand Hotel, and it will be connected to two new resorts, the Stella Nova and Terra Luna. Loews will co-own and operate the three.

Universal Destinations & Experiences, the theme park unit of NBCUniversal, is a subsidiary of Comcast that controls about 700 acres in the area.

Aside from Universal Studios Florida, the company also runs Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and CityWalk nearby. The Lowes also runs a network of hotels and resorts including Portofino Bay, Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls, Cabana Bay Beach, and Aventura.

Disney World theme parks compete nearby with Walt Disney World, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot Center. Other area attractions include Legoland and Seaworld.

Orlando estimates The Walt Disney Company and Universal are among the area’s top three employers with Disney hiring over 58,000 people and Universal about 21,000.
