Jordan Grizzle represents South Florida on ABC's 'Boy Band'

New live show premieres Thusday night on Local 10

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – ABC's new show "Boy Band" premieres at 8 p.m. Thursday and one contestant will be representing South Florida.

Jordan Grizzle, 23, is an R&B singer from Fort Lauderdale.

"Of course I’m excited to represent the crib. South Florida is who I am," Grizzle said.

Grizzle started singing at his home church, Pentacostal Tabernacle in Miami Gardens. He said his experience singing at church will help him work with other singers in a band.

"Everyone is kind of their own artist and we're all coming together to make a super group," he said. "I just love the idea of blending and harmonies and just getting all of these different voices together."

At 14, the young singer became a YouTube sensation, now boasting about 100,000 followers on YouTube with more than 8 million views.

He has also performed on BET's 106 and Park and MTV, and was recently featured in Teen Vogue as the Next Big Star.

Despite the peaks in his music career, Grizzle remembers taking an almost two-year break from setbacks in his career.

"There were a lot of setbacks. There's so much they don't tell you that happens in the music industry," Grizzle said. "I'm looking forward to 'Boy Band,' looking forward to everybody seeing it. I've been working so hard on it. I'm excited."

Grizzle will compete with 30 contestants on the live show, fighting for a spot on the five-person band. The show will be live at 8 p.m. every Thursday.
