MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson unveiled a new identity for his cruise line Tuesday.
Branson announced that his Miami-based cruise line will be called Virgin Voyages.
The name reveal was held at the Faena Hotel Miami Beach.
Virgin Voyages president and chief executive officer Tom McAlpin introduced Branson, who appeared on stage dressed as a cabana boy with two performers who danced on deck chairs. He said the idea was "to create a Virgin-like performance."
McAlpin also announced a ship-building schedule and an industry-first partnership to harness clean electricity with Swedish company Climeon.
"What I will tell you is that we will have the most gorgeous ship that you've ever seen, we will have the most wonderful experiences and it will be transformational," McAlpin said.
Virgin Voyages will call Port Miami home beginning in 2020.
